About Vin De Soif and Our Journey

Who We Are

We are Harri and Julia. Our journey together began in 2017 at École Hôtelière de Lausanne where we studied hospitality business management. From there, Harri went on to hone his skills in hospitality operations, while Julia pursued her passion for wine. Together, we bring you Vin de Soif.

The Idea

In May 2024, we found ourselves sitting outside a cozy vermouth bar in sunny Barcelona. As we enjoyed our drinks, a local bin van parked nearby caught our eye. The van had so much character and potential, and after a couple more glasses, the idea of turning that style of van into a natural wine truck was born.

Having attended countless festivals and food events, we felt that the food truck scene far outshined the mobile bar options. When it came to wine, the offerings felt one-dimensional. That moment in Barcelona planted the seed for what would eventually become Vin de Soif – a mobile natural wine business designed to offer a more exciting and diverse drinking experience.

Our first challenge was finding the perfect van. After months of searching, every van seemed financially out of reach. But fate had other plans. In July, we met Sean, the owner of Campavans, a luxury camper van business based in the Northwest of England. After hearing about our struggles, Sean suggested we build our own van and mentioned a 1960s caravan, lovingly named “Dolly,” that had been sitting in his field for years.

With zero DIY experience but plenty of determination, we took the plunge and bought Dolly on the cheap. That marked the beginning of our journey – transforming a vintage caravan into a one-of-a-kind natural wine truck and starting Vin de Soif.

The Problem

As the rebuild of Dolly got underway, we quickly realised we needed a minimum viable product to bring in revenue while the truck was being built. After some thought, we settled on the idea of offering curated natural wine bundles and private tastings.

We pushed both avenues hard and started to see success. But what stood out the most was a recurring theme in customer feedback: for 9 out of 10 people, it was their first time trying natural wine. Delving deeper, we discovered the reason why—most customers had no idea where to start when it came to buying natural wine. Most don’t even know what natural wine really means. This insight shaped the future of Vin de Soif, as it became clear that education and guidance were just as important as the wine offering itself.

The Solution

Today at Vin de Soif, we provide expert guidance and education, empowering everyone to confidently choose, discover and enjoy natural wines. Our mission is to create a welcoming community for wine lovers of all levels, where the appreciation for natural wine can flourish.
